Starting on the development and promotion of Corporate Social Responsibility in 2005, we set up an 'ecological committee' to reduce the environmental footprint of our factories and other facilities.
Main points of focus include:
- Initiation of Modal Shift (shift means of freight transport to train, ship etc.)
- Conservation of energy with introduction of summer dress code nicknamed "Cool Biz"
- Reexamination of all packing materials
In January 2007, TADANO launched a project for obtaining ISO14001 environmental management system certification.
TADANO and five subsidiaries have worked to establish a plan-do-check-act cycle system and meet the ISO14001: 2004 requirements. On 14 March, we passed an initial screening audit carried out by Lloyd's Register Quality Assurance Ltd. (LRQA), a certified agency.
We plan on making greater efforts to address issues of appropriate disposal of and recycling of waste, development of eco-friendly products, reducing energy consumption and heightening the environmental awareness of staff.
In addition, we introduced a solar photovoltaic electrification system for use at our Shido plant in March. This photo voltaic system has an area of 2000 square meters and a peak power output of 260 kilowatt. We estimate it will reduce our CO2 emissions by as much as 83.4 tons a year.
